Switch Installation Services
A switch that doesn’t work right is one of those things that’s annoying enough to notice every day but easy enough to ignore. The switch at the top of the stairs that only works half the time. The dining room light stuck at full brightness because you’ve been meaning to install a dimmer for two years. The fan switch that buzzes when you turn it on.

Dimmer Switch Installation
Dimmers let you control the light level in any room—set the mood in the living room, soften the dining room for dinner, or drop the bedroom lights for the evening. We install single-pole and multi-location dimmers and make sure they’re compatible with your bulbs.
This matters more than people realize. If you’ve switched to LED bulbs, you need an LED-compatible dimmer. A standard incandescent dimmer will cause LEDs to flicker, buzz, or not dim smoothly. We match the right dimmer to your bulb type so everything works the way it should.
Three-Way Switch Installation and Repair
Three-way switches let you control the same light from two locations—like the top and bottom of a staircase, or both ends of a hallway. When one of the switches stops working, or only works in certain positions, it’s almost always a wiring issue, not a bad switch.
Three-way circuits have a specific wiring pattern using travelers and a common terminal. If someone wired it wrong—or a connection came loose over the years—the switches behave unpredictably. We diagnose the circuit, identify the wiring error, and fix it so both switches work reliably in every position.
Four-Way Switch Repair
Have a light controlled from three or more locations? That’s a four-way switch circuit. These are more complex, with multiple travelers running between switch boxes. When they go wrong, they really go wrong. We trace the full circuit and restore proper operation.
Single-Pole Switch Replacement
The most basic switch in your home—one switch controls one light. When it fails, clicks loosely, or sparks, it’s time for a replacement. We swap it out with a quality commercial-grade switch in about ten minutes.
Fan Speed Switch Installation
If you want wall-mounted fan speed control rather than pulling a chain, we install fan-specific speed control switches. These are different from standard dimmers—a regular light dimmer on a ceiling fan motor will damage the motor over time. We use the right switch for the application.
Timer Switch Installation
Timer switches are great for bathroom exhaust fans (set it to run 15 minutes after you leave), outdoor lights, and holiday lighting. We install countdown timers, programmable timers, and astronomical timers that adjust to sunrise and sunset.

Craig and Matt from Triad Electrical installed an EV charger at my home – it was a phenomenal experience! Both were courteous, punctual, and diligent in helping us to land on the right solution for our home (which ultimately meant a little more work on their part to get things right). I sincerely appreciate how well this went, and would absolutely use Triad Electrical in the future!

Switch Repair and Troubleshooting
Switch That Buzzes or Hums
A buzzing switch usually means it’s a dimmer that’s incompatible with your LED bulbs, or it’s a standard switch with a loose connection inside the box. We identify which and fix it—either replacing the dimmer with a compatible model or tightening and re-terminating the wiring.
Switch That’s Warm to the Touch
Dimmer switches are expected to feel slightly warm—they dissipate a small amount of heat as part of normal operation. But a standard toggle switch should never feel warm. If it does, there’s a loose connection or an overloaded circuit. Call us.
Switch That Sparks
A small spark when you flip a switch is sometimes normal—it’s called arcing, and it happens when the contacts make or break. But visible arcing, a popping sound, or a burnt smell means the switch is failing and should be replaced before it causes a problem.
Light Flickers When Switch Is Used
If a light flickers only when you flip a specific switch, the issue is usually at the switch or the wire connection in the switch box—not the light fixture. We open the box, check the connections, and replace the switch if needed.
When to Call Us
Call if a switch sparks, buzzes, feels warm, or doesn’t control the light properly. Call if you want to add a dimmer, upgrade to a timer, or fix a three-way circuit that’s been wired wrong. And call if you’re planning a lighting upgrade and want proper switch control for your new fixtures. Free estimates on all switch work.
